Meode River Cool Plains, 15°02'S, 70°03'W, Almbr
[illegible]: [illegible] we a white billed bird. Walked
back through the willows along the river, looking
for redpolls, of which I got 2, and saw 2-3 others.
There were a few Savannah Sparrows in this area,
but I couldn't find the nest again, and didn't
see whole crowns. Semi-pole. Sandpipers (2-3)
along the river, where I just one, and in the
long open up, which are still largely und,
in the willows, and obviously common in
the entire area. There must be 40-60 birds
still there, and Steve and I have collected nearly
20 thus in addition. Peatlands are getting closer
to finish after the collecting of 1 bird, though.
The afternoon spent taking care of stomachs, and
in the evening went to the dunes on the Ockow
of the Meode. They are unlike what I had expected,
in that there is little herbaceous plants coming up,
a tribute to their activity. The willows are very
leafy now, and many of the grasses will soon flower.
Akenis is common, but other flowers were scarce.
The Stobolized areas and the lakes have gone down
considerably and there was less Semipal activity
than this last time I was here. No shorebirds seen on
the dunes. 2-3 Semipole seen along the River
on the way there. Got back late, did the dishes,
and went to bed. Got anew vis, too, so I will
likely rain. Art McKee said he found Planigera chick this evening.
