P. DeBenedictis, 1965 Journeys 28 June Meadow River Coal Mine, (15°02'5"W, 70°29'N), Atac. White-crown is still sitting. A few new flowers. The 4 Wogtail in camp still sitting. About 4 went to South Creek to check for anything, but it was pretty wet. Saw two long-tails on the ridge and found a 4-egg Reptiled nest on the way back. Three or four Richardsonii in flower. In the evening went across the river. Lots of Semipal activity but little else except a couple of N. Phalacro. No decks. Didn't stay long because of rain. Helped pick a while in the evening. Nightly afternoon wet moderate rain next day. 29 June Went due west from camp to see what is out there. Mosquitoes! I worked along to the lake or village creek then along the creek to the next lake, across the ridge to the creek and along the lake on the other side and walk to camp. Most of the area is upland with little development of Carex marsh except in polygons, and much is quite dry. The subsurface everywhere is sand. There was a Oldsquaw, a Scamp, and a Pintail (?) on the lake or village creek, and a golden plover along the edge as usual. Bleek-bellied cackling from inland. A few pheasants on the polygons. A Semipal here. The creek is densely bordered with Salix patches 6-8" long, and in labeled by longspurs only. A Pintail was feeding in grassy areas along the creek and 25 feet
