Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 20°29'N, Alaska
through I'll miss the wagtail. Found a longspur nest
with 2-3 day old ground and one other nest had two young.
One longspur and one phalacrocorax nested. There is a
pair of longspurs by the one stake, probably not nesting now,
and one by it. 5,5 states that I can't find a nest for,
though I watched the 9 disappear. An Avro Ten
fishing on pools again and 1 Pertral still here.
Only saw one f. Two+ dunlin on the plot as usual,
and the semipals that were along the riv seem to
be off the plot, to the N. now. 8 longspurs are impossible
and are noted only when with 9s. In the evening,

done. Found a Savannah sparrow nest on the way
over. Polygonum bistorta in flower. When I came back
I got an alarm note from a golden plover by the
CO2 warning wire and a pertral and 1 semipal
come in and scolded. A longspur egg shell was here.
Saw much Semipal churing and song - a 2nd burst
of activity or nesting? It was like this at Baurus
last year about this time also. Came in and went to
bed. I am tired!!
