13June Nleade River Coal Mine, 157025W, 70029'N, Alaska Only Dectails were conspicuous but heard one pair of derrulin and saw several Semiipalo along a large lake in Cary marsh. A few douritiers bird little song. Sabine Gello and Arctic Terns acting up along the Sphagnum hummock in the lakes was opening up, probably to nest, and A q Red M. Merganser were here. Dq Parasitic Jaeger ? territorial and long tails going over. Walked back along the River bluff with only a few Semiipalo, mostly flying over. A White-c. singing from the far side of the Meade in the willow. The Village flats full of Semiipalo and a few Phoebe, Dectails and douritiers as usual. Only Reds seen on this jaunt. While I was in the Flint's area, A phoebe that was supposed to pick me up came by and left before I ambled back. It left a few stakes which I took to the census plot to more conspicuously mark the grid. A Western Sandpail Singing over the 8 rows (5-4), but little other change. All nests with one more egg. Spent the evening putting up birds. With the warm weather now, all birds are very inactive during the midday period and most were sleeping when I found them. Semiipalo more active than the other species. No longer much sign of nest building or of migrants going by. 85 collected obviously starting to nest now.
