17 May Baydez, Alaska. It snowed during the
night and much of the open tundra was
covered up again. Didn't feel like to go out.
A few noisy Snow Buntings in the Cab area
this evening, singing loudly.
18 May. Went to the Vost area and to the ridge
between this and the village during the [illegible].
Sunny and pleasant where the wind stops.
The ridge here is like the beach ridge. 99%
snow-covered and the exposed areas
mostly bare. No sign of any animals.
In the Afternoon went with Pat Clark to
Beach Ridge and walked to Dr. P. T. Kelka's
Census plot. The area is more snow covered
than earlier and no signs of animals. Snow
Buntings not as noisy around the Cab. The
roads developed large puddles during the
day.
19 May Another clear but deadly day. Didn't go out
large puddles around the Cab, which freeze at night.
Saw a different Glauces gull, all white, and a
few Buntings around the Cab. Nothing else. Healy
River Camp is 4/8's of the way there + the
trudra 99% snow covered.
20 May Snow during the day. It's beginning to
get hard to keep track of the date due to
inactivity. Saw 2 Glauces Gulls together
and some Bunting territorial behavior.
