P.DeBenedict 1965 29 July Barrow, Alaska all of the jaques except 1s. pair by the Creek Wanage appeared to be present and 3-4 young ones seen. There were a few golden plovers on the dry groovy flat by the upper of Wohlchag but nothing else other than phalaropes here. Saw one flock of ~45 Golden circling along the shore of Elron bogon and move into the Central Marsh area, and this were 4 Black-bellies with a golden along the bogons. The eiders almost completely spotted going by while I was along the bogons, but came on strong after 4:30 pm. Saw several groups of triple 500 birds, about 5000 during the afternoon, ~ 1-6 to 1 King/Common, and one flock with 6 Thick-billed Murre. Found a 4 Steller in Helmet Morass with 5 chicks, and a pair of Cormorant with at least 2 chicks about the size of those seen by Ickovil last trip, and a pair of jaques caught 3 weasels from a family while I was there. Saw a Bander in Helmet Morass on the way in and found Hamilton had pushed its weasel on Pitelha's plot for me to take in. After the movie (How to Murder a Rich Uncle) went to the Fertilizer plots with Hamilton to look for some downy White rump sandpipers he saw this morning. This was not successful but we saw a flock of 15- 27 Phalaropes, 3+ Arctic + 2 Red-thro. Loons and 4 ad.4 one with 4 chicks, Spectacled (at least!) Eiders, so the day ended pretty well. Still lots of eiders going past
