Niagara plain Clinton plain Owen Sound City east Clinton Richmond red clay River Richmond red clay West Owen Sound City Clinton scarp 20-30 feet Clinton flat. Niagara scarp, 50-60 feet. Upper Niagara level, in west Owen Sound. The Niagara escarpment extends not more than 50 to 70 feet and consists of heavy bedded fine- gained dolomite of a light grey color. It is the "white rock" of local quarry men while the Clinton is known to them as the blue rock. There but few recognizable fossils and the cavities are very small. Of fossils
