June 13 Wednesday Tried all day to get some fish remains in a creek five miles west of Cleveland but it was a total failure. The first day of work which gilded nothing. Ed & Henry went to Berea to get specimens for the Expedition and shipped a box weighing 105 lbs. June 14 Started out for the Valley R.R. to get a turn for Richfield but missed it and had to lay over until 12 o'clock. Did not get this one, but finally could catch the third one. At Peninsula we could not get cat until 6:20. Saw some shale.
