Ree tells me it is the opinion of Fletcher and
others that the Diluvian is conformable upon the
Gold Slate series and that all were folded
together. This hardly seems probable when we
learn that the latter has a thickness of 36,070
feet, one-half of which is quartzite the other
slate.
