Code 1959 General Account 5 July - cont- Followed the main Colville valley up to the Etisiluk, then up along Etisiluk to Nigre R. and about 30 miles up the Nigre. Then turned around and flew back to the Colville, since we could find no good landing places along Etisiluk or Nigre - and both these rivers looked difficult for boating because of low water. We landed at a point on the main river about 3 miles below mouth of Etisiluk. While Bob returned for the rest of our gear and supplies, we set-up the tent and began assembling the Kalanaq boat. We are having to start out without a motor, and we have only 1 good canoe paddle and 2 poor collapsible aluminum oars. Main returned around 2130 with the rest of our stuff. Overcast by then. 6 July Colville R. - above Averna - 1110 - we departed from camp #1 in over- cast weather. 1140 stopped at rough leg next. 1145 - departed. 1215 arrived at the first of the 700 percent sloped cliffs in the bend of the river. Stopped to check cliffs, both inland and on the river 1445 we departed this area. 1830 stopped for rough leg. Off again at 1910. 1945 made
