General Account
11 May
1025 - Left Oakland airport for
Barrow, Alaska, accompanied by
W. J. Maher.
1255 - arrived Seattle.
1400 - departed Seattle for Fairbanks
via Pan Am.
1800 - arrived Fairbanks, where we
were met at the airport by Brigid
Hessel and her husband, Roy Roof.
We were taken to Heps Hall on
the University of Alaska campus,
where a room had been reserved
for me.
Later we went out to Bruna's
house with L. B. Stewart and
his wife, and spent the evening
in the company of Al Johnson and
his wife, Bill Pruitt, and Fred
Dean.
12 May - Fairbanks vicinity - at 0900 we left
College in a university car for a trip
up the Steere Highway to find the
shrubiest which I located back
in 1956. We went out to mile 55
and then returned, stopping at several
points along the highway to look
over the ground.
