Code 1958 General Account 7 July - cot- we walked over to aligator wood to the jeep and back to camp at 1600. Spent the rest of the evening in and around camp. Set out a mist net near the airstrip in the area of T 6, The vegetation here this year is as lush as I have ever seen it - comparable if not better than the season of 1952. Eriophorum vaginatum. Tussocks here flower stalks averaging 10-12 weeks high with 4-8 stalks per tussock. The tussock heath tundra on the hill sides is conspicuously whiter in aspect than either 1956 or 1957. Also the alders are heavily loaded with new cones this year. Rubus berries are numerous, as also cranberries, blue berries are common in patches, and Arctostaphylos berries are numerous. All of these have been inconspicuous in 1956 and 1957. All vegetation has put on conspicuous new growth this year. My recent trails east to T527, no conspicuous in 1956 or 1957, are hardly to be seen this year. Only the old cat a LVT trail are showing on the Tundra this year. The season has been warm with quite
