General Account
6 July - cont
quite common in all these areas.
We saw 3 Red Phalaropes, 2 & together
and one isolated &, whereas previously
there had been hundreds around in
all areas. We saw 6 gullsies-most
of them around the Bath only, and we
saw two longspurs. There was a
scattering of Old Spruces, pairs groups
of 4-5, 3 Red-throated Loons, some
geese, and one flock of #11 7e187
Steller's Eiders. I have never seen
these areas so bare of bird life-
especially in the Gull & shore-
bird categories. It will be interesting
to see what turns up here in the
fall. Weather today was bright, clear,
with cold east wind.
7 July Barrow to South Barrow Three -
Make a trip today with Max Brewer,
Tim Myers, and Vareghu Sherman
to South Barrow Three. Total distance
traveled was 13 1/2 miles. We left at
1200 and returned at 1900. I kept a
count of all birds seen on the trip north
to the well and notes on other occurrences
during the return trip. The following
is the itinerary of the trip:
