T. Cade 1958 General Account 25 June - Meade River river. Weather was clear and warm when we arrived and continued clear all afternoon, becoming cloudy around 2100. The vegetation here is well-advanced- about 2 weeks ahead of that at Barrow. Crisophorum is heeled out in white Tufts, Carex is blooming and shedding Rolling prospers, the purple Pedicularis is in full bloom, Petacites is blooming, Dryop is in full bloom, Vaccinium reticulatum is blooming, Ledum is just beginning to bloom, Willows, catkins are mature, and many other flowers are now. The vegetation has a definite greenish appearance in distinction from the general brown look which still prevails at Barrow. At 1500 Brock and I went out to set traps on the two fartherest transects T7-8. While we were out there, four Caribou came by and Joe shot one of them near our lines. We walked over after we were finished and helped him carry the meat back to camp. In exchange for 5 lbs of sugar and 3 lbs of coffee, we got the hind quarters. The animal was a yearling. This meat
