General Account
25 June Barrow-Meade River
Brock and I left Barrow, flying with
Bob Fisher, at 0935 for Meade River.
The following is itinerary and details of
trip.
0937 - off ground at Barrow - flying west
along the coast at 85-90 miles per hour
and ca 1400 ft.
0941 over Barrow village
0957 came down low over the ground
just east of Skull Cliff by the fallen
tower to look for running rig - none
seen - flew low until 1000, at which time
we turned inland toward the Meade -
flying at 700 ft.
1005 - over the upper draws
1008 - 6 caribou and 1 glaucous gull seen
1014 - over the Meade River following it
upstream
1025 - down at the Coal Mine on the Meade.
While waiting for the second plane load of
gear, I walked around in a radius of
quarter around the village looking over
the grounds from 1100 to 1230. Bobby
and Paul Tietzen returned with the rest
of our stuff around 1400. The four of us with
the help of the two Eskimos, Johnnie and
Joe, dragged the ARL boat down to the
