General Account
22 June Barrow, Alaska
Wrote letters in the morning and worked
around the lab - oiling traps etc.
Went out with Brock at 1500 to
view the traplines. Back in camp at 1700.
There appears to have been an movement
of shorebirds in the last two days -
noticeable among semipalmated sandpipers
especially and among pectoral sandpipers
to some extent. Also dowitchers seen for
the first time this spring.
23 June Barrow - Went out in weasel at 1235 to
investigate more flinching nests - west south
of Calthol Marsh toward the gas well.
Returned to ARL at 1635. Weather mostly
overcast today with some heavy sunshine.
At 1845 Brock and I went out and
took up the traps on T112, T640, and
T9210, in anticipation of departing tomorrow
for Meade River.
4 June
Barrow - sat around most of the day waiting
for the weather to break for flying. Finally
had to give it up around 1500. So Brock
and I went out before dinner and set
twelve live traps baited with sardines
for weasels. Carlee, in the morning, we
picked 10 plots for Schultz near T9210.
Pete went with us to see where they are located.
