General Account
20 June - cont
red phalarope. We returned to ARL at
1150. Spent the afternoon writing notes
and correspondence.
Sky with hazy overcast today and
some onshore wind but weather still
relatively mild.
After dinner Brock and I went out
again from 1830 to 2105 to view the
six tunducts. When we got back I
walked out over the Alectophila area
between ARL and the Camps between
2115 and 2220 - to look for more
lemming nests.
21 June
Barrow - Brock, Maher and I went out
on the tundra with John Cantlon at
0800 to get some Botanical information
on the local grasses and sedges. Sky
again bright and clear but cold wind
blowing from off the ocean.
At 1345 I went out in weasel to look
for lemming nests. The area investigated
was the high grounds around T9 and T10.
Nests were sparsely distributed in this area,
Also looked at areas between the beach
ridge and the airstrip, in the center of
Central Marsh, and at the south end of
Central Marsh. Back in camp at 1700.
