1. Code 1958 General Account 19 June cont and baiting museum specials. We have enough traps for six lines plus about 50 spares in addition to the two sets and spares that Childs has at Pitmegea. After lunch Brock and I went out on the treadmill and set out traps on transects 1 and 2, and 5 and 6. We also looked at the lines in Central Marsh, which are still quite wet. Clavsky, no snow, much melting of the little remaining snow - very mild and unusual day of weather. Ramunculus mivalis is blooming and the large purple Pedicylaris has large heads, only a few of which, however, are in flower. Some turnocks - those not eaten down by lemmings - are in flower, but not yet shedding pollen- this is Eriophorum vaginatum. I have seen no Carex in bloom. 20 June Barrow, Alaska At 0845 Brock and I went out in a weasel and set out traps on transects 9 and 10. These are on ground that shows some of the heaviest utilization by lemmings - every foot of the line shows evidence of winter cutting. Then we saw the lines set out yesterday. The only catch was 3 longspurs and one.
