Code 1957 Reverse Account 15 July, Point Lay In the evening I met Warren Meatlok and his wife down at the lagoon and they took me across to the village in their boat for the evening. They were very friendly and gave me lots of good information. 16 July Point Lay Went out again in the afternoon from 1325 to 1815 on the ridge near the lake, over to the river and back, skirting the north edge of the lake. Mr. Nolan had me taken out as far as the end of the road to the water shack in a jeep, and I walked from there. Covered about three miles on foot. Yesterday was partly cloudy with some rain and wind. Today was entirely overcast with stiff 50 wind. It began raining ca 1900 and continued lightly through the night. Again saw very little freshwater- sign and no live animals - either in upland or lowland situations. Sign commonest along replays of river terraces and along lagoon. One of the men at the site told me that in 1955 snowy owls were very common at Prew (Oliktok Point east of Iddonia Bay).
