General Account
13 July, Barrow
Again spent the day in the lab
writing. Plan to leave for Point
Lay on 15th for 3-4 days. But
my traps have not yet arrived
from Christ, and they way came
me to leave here short-handed
with only enough for one trap set.
May brought Orival Saleen, Western
District Manager for FE of the Devoliers,
into the lab in the afternoon, and we
showed him some of our specimens and
live animals.
The Devoliers from POW1 brought in
two line Squeaky Owls for May -
c.a. 2 weeks old.

Doc Hanna was at POW A, Cape Simpson
from 9-11 July. He saw 42 jaegers, of which
more than half were long-tail. He also
saw 4 snowy owls. None of the owls or
jaegers seemed to be nesting. He said
lemmings were quite common, and in
driving over the tundra one was seen
every few hundred feet. Lots of lemmings
and ptarmigans. The ground was mostly
low crater polygon type.
