General Account
11 June, Wainwright, Alaska
Beeny and I spent the morning 0800 to
1130 setting out the traps on the four
transects. Jaegers were all about us, T1 is
in rod slope. Apparently Takers set up a
new series of stakes last year. Now there are
two sets which do not match up, and it is
hard to know which intervals to follow
in setting out traps. The other lines seem
to be OK.
Coming into the Village we were met
by two kids who had shot 4 jaegers.
There we bought for a $1.00.
We saw the transects after dinner and retired
around 2330. Spent the afternoon writing up
field notes.
12 June, Wainwright, Alaska
Hank and I ran the transects in the
morning, then came back to the village to
pack Hank's stuff up for his return to Barrow.
The Wien plane came back in from Point
Loy at 1300. I sent 22 line lemmings
and the 4 jaegers back to Barrow with Hank.
I spent the afternoon around the village,
ran the lines again in the evening and retired
at 0130. Caught 2 more lemmings by hand.
13 June, Wainwright, Alaska
Up at 0900 and ran the trap lines.
