General Account
10 June - cant
Lagoon, but after several passes at the spit
by the lagoon joint N of Agisk, Lockheart said
he was willing to land. The cover cleared out
some pretty soft sand and gravel but made
a good landing, although the wheels cut
into the ground 3-4 inches. Getting off was more
trouble but we made it safely. At this site
the ground rises from the lagoon immediately
into the uplands - 1/4 mile walk inland will
put one at 3001 feet altitude.
1725
- on ground joint N of Agisk - Pedicelivered,
meadow muni gold, balsam, willows blooming
lime.
1815
- take off on wheels from the sevelfit and
down the coast to mouth of the Pitmgea River.
Circled around it several times. Saw a 2 oon
shark three - looked in fair condition. Lockheart
found two good hard gravel bars about 1/2 mi.
upstream to land on.
1930
on the ground at the Pitmgea. This landing
was much softer than the one on the spit.
Our wheels didn't even mark the ground.
There is a 100 ft rocky outcrop on the left
bank just below where we landed. It looked
good for falcons but none seen there. The Pitm-
gea Valley is a beautiful area with both upland
and river bottom habitats immediately available
