Cade 1956 Weather and Phenology 24 June Unicat, Alaska Partly cloudy at 8p - mostly clear until late evening. No wind. Clearing over around 2400. Was bitten for first time today by a mosquito. 25 June Overcast dolder with strong westerly breeze until early afternoon. Few drops of rain falling between 1400 and 1800. Cool. Temp at 1830 = 8.6°C. This condition continued into the late evening. 26 June Partly cloudy in the morning, tending to clear even more in the afternoon with scattered cumulus clouds - few drops of rain from some of them. Wind from N - light. Temp at 1700 = 16.5°. Noted quite a few mosquitoes in the marshy areas around T7 - hovering low - ca 2 ft above ground. First day I have seen a real swarm - only scattered individuals before. 27 June - Bright and clear all morning - one of brightest days I've seen up here. Continuing in the afternoon but with some cumulus clouds showing on the far horizon southward. Temp in shade at 1500 = 19°C - in sun 20.6. Marsh marigolds are blooming, Sempine is at peak of flowering. Sedum buds are breaking and a few are in flower. Alders have matured catkins which will soon be shedding pollen. Candy in the rinks is at peak of pollen shedding.
