T. Cade 1956 General Account 27 July - Went out with Ben Yeller and a couple of USBS boys in my weasel to help them fish another weasel out of a lake where it had submerged yesterday. Left Uniat around 0100, went swimming at the lake and took first bath since leaving Barrow. Back at Uniat around 0330 and to bed. Up at 1030. Spent rest of day unpacking stuff from the Savonnet trip and helping Kovanda get his stuff ready to take back to Barrow. We left around 2000 in the evening, To bed at 2300. [illegible] 28 July - Up at 1100. Spent the day hiking, it was [illegible] cleaning up groundset, and working with the fields. 28 July - Went out with Ben on a hunting trip. Gone most of the day. We went out around T2 and T7 and rop over the hill behind the oil well. Picked up the steel traps on the hill and net them out at the dump for quells and waven. 28 July - Up at 0800. Checked traps and had caught current adult fox. Spent most of day inside, as it was raining all day. Saw another fox by the dump in the evening. Also some large fresh wolf tracks. 30 July - Ben and I went out on all day trip to look for a ford across the river to the big island opposite Uniat Mt. We found we could cross in several places with not much difficulty. Spent several hours driving weasel up and down dry stream beds on the island. Then crossed back over below Uniat Mt. Examined peregrine and vaughley aeries on Uniat Mt. Back to Uniat around 2100. The weasel threw another track just after we got started this morning, but we were able to prize it back on again.
