T. Cade 1956 General Account 17 July - There I established T10 midway up on the steep slope between the upper terrace and the rolling hills back of Unciat. The line parallels a contour just below the rock outcrops west of the oil well. It is in what appears to be good M. miewus habitat. On the way to this site - near NE end of Unciat Lake - the weasel threw its track on weight rider. It did not come all the way off - just slipped off the teeth on the back wheel. We left it as was, because we had no tools with us. Will return tomorrow with the other weasel and tools and try to pry the track back on. Also set out 6 #1 steel traps on the rocky outcrops for ground squirrels. Walking in, we heard a fox howling on the hill. Left it up for show or more. May be in one of the traps. 18 July - Spent morning writing up notes and skinning a dainty pectoral squirrel. Got 8 grayling out of the net for the hawks. Took the fine weasel out in the evening to run T10. Could not get any help today to take care of my weasel. 19 July - Retired at 0100 and up at 0600. Ben and I went out to get the weasel. We had no difficulty prying the track back on. Ran the traps early and came back in. Spent most of the morning and afternoon skinning yesterday's and today's catch. Ran the traps again in the evening, trudged fish net and did some cleaning for the hawks. 20 July - Retired at 0430 and up at 1000. Ran trap
