Cade General Account 13 July Up at 0900 and van troops on T5. Skinned the rest of morning and wrote up notes in afternoon and went hunting meat for the meats. In the evening set out troops on T#9 and van T5 again. USBS still during the wrevel to transport equipment and gear up from the logoon. Retired at 1200. 14 July Up at 0900 and van the trop lines. Skinned in the early afternoon. S Shanks, Reverola and the others from the Sagecanisiktok party arrived between 1500 and 1800. We shot the breeze, and I had them over to my hut for dinner. Afterwards, I ran the trop lines again, and skinned in the late evening. 15 July Up at 0900 (notweld ca 0100) and van the trop lines. Back and breakfast in my hut with the other ARL workers. We lingered over the meal. Kieth stepped out for something and came back in to report a "smoldering fire" in the quonset where they were staying. John Morande started through the door when a blast of flames suddenly came forth. There was a strong westerly wind and this quickly whipped the fire into an unmanageable holocaust. We all grabbed five extinguishers (C12 type) but could make no dent in the flames. Both of Unneet's fire-fighting waysos (C12 tanks) were brought into play, but nothing had any effect.
