Cade 1956 General Account 1 July Ben's boat, lightly loaded, had 6 smaller tears in the same areas. We camped on a high gravel alluvium, overgrown with moss and heath and large willows. Good ground for camping. Location on right side of river about 1200 above Easter Creek: 5 miles below starting point. 2 July Left Camp #2 at 0900, Ben and I taking the boats while Web walked overland. Made slow trine again with both boat leaking badly despite crew patching of yesterday. Please to stop every 10-15 min. to bail out the water. We passed a large creek coming in on the right about 1500, went another 4-5 miles and made camp #3 about 20 miles above the C[illegible] Creek. Web is flushed from the lake. We made about 15 miles today. Web killed an adult St Ignat just below the large creek mentioned above. We are serving it as food for ourselves and the falcons. The meat is very light - like rabbit. Birds seen so far include: Cavia stellata - 1 on the river Branta canadensis - on gravel bars - no nets yet Chiongnula hyemalis - on lakes by river Charadrius hiaticula - on gravel bars Actitis maculata - common on gravel bars Lobipes lobatus - flying along river Larus hyperboreus
