get and than for specimens although we saw more than are five. Of the Eospongia are our specimens, 12 inches in diameter. Of these one has pieces. Of the annulated cylindrical sponge one fit some nice material and one from was 18 inches long. All four entire and better trilobites are from zone 11 but we saw and probably have more material from zone 10. The gastropods are in greater abundance in zone 10 and the lower half of zone 11. Of Endornus we saw only siphonelos in zone 10 but in zone 11 there are far more abundant and often one a lens of the entire shell is present. Portals from Euryotmites came from the lower half of zone 11. The strike of the strata 2 miles east of Point Pich lighthouse is N. 25 W. Dip 48. At about 1/2 miles east of the lighthouse it is N. 50 E. Dip 10 D. Near the lighthouse there are minor more undulations. The prevailing dip is towards the land. On seeing the trails of zone 11 we provisionally correlate it with the Sponge zone of the Oregon Island Chage. This is done mainly on the basis of the sponges and the first abundance byssus. Some of the gastropods are probably also in common but not a single brachipod has been seen that occurs in both places. If this correlation turns out then zones 9 and 10 are about or Oregon between the Oregon and Romaine formations while in Newfoundland the section appears to be complete.
