August 21-1918 Wednesday. Port Saunders.
The wind this morning is from the NW, and are can for to Port Saunders. We take camp, and at 9:40 we are on our way down Hawks Bay to Port Saunders. At the latter place we arrived at 11 A.M. Distance 8 miles. From our camp in a straight line to the whole factory the distance is 2 miles and to House Island it is 4 1/4 miles.
At Port Saunders are rent a dirty empty dress as the wind is high and there no sheltered camping place.
Sent the following telegram "J. St. Lenge and Sons, Flaxies Croc. Please return by next steamer my barrel of gasoline to Harry House, Port Saunders. Forward charges." C. Johnson,
In the afternoon are collected around to the northeast towards Bayamelle Croc. At first we are on the Beefmantum, apparently in the Upper B., a few no joints that could be identified.
At first the Beefmantum was very horizontal and then it became much deformed and brecciated indicating a fault. The Chazy is let down to the east, Lumps.
At the next two joints north of the faults are one of the Chazy dipping about 20° towards Point Ried. Here the usual Chazy fossils are to be seen but many are one too much fractured to tell me. I saw considerable Stromatocrinium. Of Agjrocera I saw one nearly thru foot long and about it inches wide at the mouth; the living chamber was 8 inches in length.
