August 13-1918. Table Head section revised.
Laga nautili, Rafinercus picator, Dawsonreus prionus.
Onesocus sp., small estomies of mania byptra. Only a few
poorly preserved gastropods were seen, as Maduritis communis
but the M. of the Chazy are very rare in strata.
Rafinercus attains large size, up 2'9" long with the epyp m-
complete and a dia. width of 1 1/4 inches; body chamber 9" long
and 5 1/2 inches in diameter at the largest end. The last septa
are 7's inch apart.
In the afternoon drilling down in the section fossils are scarce
beneath the sponge bed for 130 feet. At this level Lepuditra are
common along with mud bryozoan and trilobites, Pleioneus icarus,
Commin Rafinsquonia aurora. Obscure gast. are also seen.
At 150 down Lepuditra, pug of trilobites, Hormitoma sorcula
and Rafinercus sp.
Fossils are scarce then to 190' down. Here occur Tornicofelis
acuminata (its highest occurrence) and laga nautili, fragments
of tril. Hormitoma simulatrix, Rafinercus A. Dawsonreus
prionus.
At 200' down common in T. acuminata. Associated with it
is a small operculum the right size and shape to first. This
is the only gast. seen here and the operculum doubtless
belongs to it.
At 260 feet down there is another gray slate with Lepu-
ditra, T.acuminata, Rafinercus and frag. of tril.
