At 11 A.M. we got out of the harbor and as the wind is better outside we go along at a fair rate. At 5 P.M. we are opposite St. Johns Island, and can easily see Point Pied ahead. It has been a fine sunny day with a light breeze from the north having us directly to the south; good as one could hope. This greater luck day from trip. At 6.15 we see the home coming out of Potomac Creek. We are still 2 miles from this port. At about 7 o'clock we try to go through the narrow entrance (two islands) into the Potomac Creek harbor on the north side of the peninsula. A fresh breeze from the south west had come up and while we were eating our coffee the boat gave two slight bumps and it was evident that we had struck the bottom of one of the islands. Tom Kennedy turns the boat and was soon off in the dry to get a pilot, a man setting out the light to the harbor entrance. We then found out that we should have kept close to the northern island which we then did and all was well. We are now in a fine harbor with are indications for a stiff breeze tonight and tomorrow. At 8.30 we are at anchor and Tomahawk goes ashore for the mail. Just one from Orlando and another from Bank of Montreal.
