about as far as a man and it would be impossible to get through this to the gulch. Dr we graded along the road through the grate and over the stones. It was for me a most tiresome piece of work. However we were rewarded by many fine, large and fine cups of Arctodes athus. The fishermen are out of cap alom fish for their bait for cod fishing. As they do not get good cap alom any more this year they are now talking to catching a smaller fish as bait, the lance (whales are said tipped). For breakfast we had fried fresh cod and for dinner fried fresh salmon. Both were good eating. Unless fish are caught last day it is impossible to get fresh fish to eat in this the land of cord. As soon as caught all fish are put in salt. We me has an ice house and nothing is kept but in cold storage. A great improvement in living is still possible here.
