Monday Aug 22 - 1927 started to Garpe Basin in Bay, Idaho car. Left at 8:30 A.M. and got to Basque at noon. Left at 1:00 p.m. at Elk Creek Pass at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Robinson showed me two more places to get Garpe coal- stone near by here. The locality is about one mile up York river to a brook having road on the west side, and the boulders I could not remove in the woods about 94 miles for this end. He still made an effort to get a Cotton fiber tree and shrubbery. Aug 26 Townsend Post Master and telegrapher at Pierce. Mr. Beard senior showed me Howard custom presented his by Clarke.
