One as Mr. Graham for an unknown reason
had failed to answer his letter he wanted to
assign to me the Devonian in the Symposion.
I refused point blank because of my ad-
vanced position in Paleogeography and that I did
not wish to be cabled in any way from doing any-
things that I chose to do in this matter. I told
him that I had 50 paleogeographic maps but did
not specify that 35 were strictly American, the
other 15 world's projection.
I told him that I had 5 Devonian, 5 Silurian
and specified some of the latter. Among these the
Salina one and that this sea existed only in
the east. This brought a rise out of him to the
effect that the Eastern Sea extended all the
way across the continent and that its absence in
this area was due to erosion.
He soon saw that we were likely apart
as I had assumed from which's remains. This
was my greatest objection for not joining his
Symposion.
He then, after all the cold water I had pour-
on him, brought out his 15 G.A. paleogeographic
maps for my inspection. Told me that he had
