Between the cross bedded Cataract sandstone
and the grey shale there is a zone of very thin bedded
limestone with but little shale, These are the basal
Cataract limestone beds.
As we go up into the shale the limestone al-
most dry out and it is only at long intervals (of 10-15') that
bedded
limestone goes reappear.
