Monday May 27-1901 Middlebury to Northumberland. Left Middlebury at 7 O'm on the ridge road. After a very short drive collected in a number of square lime quarries beside the road. The following is a rough section. Heavy shale impure li. Broathing modular. About 20 feet seen. Solid blue tricolor li with a shale parting near center holding the small rocks collected. Stratum from are Favro-olites most abundant in lower half. About 40 feet. Thin bedded impure li. Eye fiddel, no fossils seen. About 20 feet. Some 5 or more miles farther N.E are 2 small quarries but seemed almost no fossils here. Arrived at Delinspore by 11.30 Distance traveled 12 miles.
