A great deal might be in here or very little
as the beds lie at a low dip on each side,
to the west,
and then too they are apt to undate in the
trunk of the syncline.
Ialina series 1685 fut.
Medina series 1600 fut.
Hudson River Shales and sandstones.
In the afternoon went over to the New Jersey
side. Here the basal 30 fut. are nearly bedded chase white
quartzite with gors of fettle conglomerate in size of
about 1/2 ind. Then a single bed 30 fut thick of white
quartzite without peltles. Then another bed of 15 fut when
appear
flaced shales with conglomerates of the regulatium character.
At 225-fet above base just before a flaced shale
gone 10 miles thick found a fine layer of Arthrophyceas
lauransii of the fluene type. There is another layer 10
fot higher, and I think I also could smell them.
