Monday April 13-1914
Pottsville, Penn.
Barrell and the students went to St Clair
to see the coal mines. I did not go with
them but remained and fetched a box
of Morris' stuff via Adams.
Called on Drs. H. J. Hartlein to see
his Ancient Church tools. They are better
than those that Lyon has.
Left Pottsville at 3.13 P.M. on P. R. R.
to Hazleton, where we arrived at 4.30.
Left at 5.05 on trolley line for Scranton,
Hazleton is in the top of an old undirected
penplain. We have been coming over the
top of the ridges at 1500 to 1700 feet above the
sea. In all of the valleys small and large
are small and large coal fields that come in
slantly above the Pottsville conglomerate.
Left Hickok station at 6.26, changed
cars in Scranton. Arr Scranton at 7.30.
