Aug. 2 Thursday, Grand Mere.
Spent most of the day at Rosier Cove and seemed many large field bury fos.
There are mainly from Bed 1. Hardover beds 1 and 2 hold as the greatest some many of the fossils seem to be common to both did further get an collected fine bone and for this bed.
In the afternoon packed the fossils into one barrel and made it ready for shipping.
In talking with Clarke over the Colhoun horizon, he is rather of the opinion that it is most closely related to the Chapman fauna. Also that it seems best to fit into the Saspe beds 1 and 2.
My own impression is that this Col-housed fauna is probably a thousand, unlike any bed of the Saspe series. The good aspect seems to connect it with the Saspe beds 1 and 2 but then more the fauna's are different. Is it possible that the Colhoun fauna may fit into the Saspe above 2 and beneath 3?
This point may be determined after we return to Colhouster to visit the town beds.
