Notes from books Large quarry about 3 m. N. of Beloit near the C. & N. W. R. R. Another quarry on the same R. R. not or five north, see the ravine below this quarry in the "Lower Blue Beds", Carpenter's quarry a mile or more to the S.W. of the last. See also the ravine below this quarry. Hess' quarry and Vanekette quarry near by. Smiths quarry: 1/2 mile N.N.W. of the last quarry is the one owned by Smith. The Salmon comes in in the quarry. The quarries at Rockton Ill, present a magnificent section of the bluff cliff tide to the lower portion of the Upper Blue Beds. 100 spicim are known from there loc. Salmon beds edge the hills. The lower portion: only is to be found. Section on sections, Union R.R. is the turn of Thistle between Beloit and Clinton junction.
