The air here is not as hot as at Vera Cruz and yet it is warm enough. The mosquitoes are plenty, some, mischievous fellows that get to work immediately on sleepers. Tampico, Friday Sep. 21. Set up at 5 G.M. and left at 6. Of the trip today read to San Luis Potosi have written an account elsewhere which I have copy into the following book. Returned to San Luis at 5 P.M. Made the acquaintance of the Mexican Central conductor Mr. John H. Long, San Luis Potosi, sent picture of the train and other things on my way to Jalapa. San Luis Potosi, Saturday Sep. 22. Note on my yesterday's trip, now left for Jalapa at 11:45. On the train met Mr. Adams and his wife. Set off at Jalapa to take the early morning train or that day see the def between here and Monterey and then the long flight to Laredo. Stopped at La Playa hotel.
