Hole 42 Surf. Elev. Depth 75'11" From To Th. 0 2'11" 2'11" Overburden 2'11" 9'9" 6'10" White sandstone, medium grained, micaceous. Partings of sandy white plastic clay. Local iron staining, minor coaly streaks near base. 9'9" 10'9" 1' Light brown gray sandy plastic clay with zones of hard sandstone. 10'9" 20'6" 9'9" Medium to, locally, fine grained light sandstone with reddish brown to pink Fe stain. Faintened clayey partings, coaly streaks and inclusions in basal 4". Whole is probably light gray in color. 20'6" 22'10" 2'4" Medium to fine grained carbonaceous sandstone, cross-laminated shot with coaly, shaley, + clayey streak partings and inclusions. Sandstone shows abrupt grade size changes. 22'10" 29'6" 6'8" Gray silty shale and shaley siltstone with lenses of light gray fine grained sandstone. Occasional identifiable fans on bedding planes. 29'6" 38' 8'6" Light gray, locally gray, medium grained micaceous sandstone, numerous coaly partings. 1/2" coal at 33'6", scattered minor clay + shale pellets 32'6"
