Carries several zones of plater gray shale fragments in lower 15 feet, and one 7" band of black shale from 42 to 42'7". Homewood SS 49'2" 49'11" 9" Coaly shale Coal horizon 49'11" 60'9" 10'10" Dark gray shale, locally black, carbonaceous. Shale 60'9" 62'3" 1'6" Black shale 62'3 63'4" 1'1" Coal and coaly shale, at least 5" coal, some core loss either from coal or thin coaly shale below it. Coal horizon Merces 63'4" 69'4" 6' Hard clay as follows:- 8" Gray to black 'top block' 15" Dark gray flinty block 13" Fine grained nodular blocks. 36" Sideritic block, some nodular zones Clay 69'4" 70'9" 1'5" Shaley block clay, greasy, Fe bumps. Appears conglo- eratic. ? 70'9" 72'7" 1'10" Dark gray to black shale, greasy, sideritic (Fe bumps) May still be shaley block clay - should be analyzed.
