Above coal section obscured. Bank of shales over coal passes upward into interbedded ss & dark silty clstn. Above this covered completely & at least 20' to end (vertical) of strip where mess of ferruginous clay with ss etc. Coal is probably Brookville. 147 caved and abandoned opening made by Ernest Bowser. Heading N 55°E. 148 Abandoned and caved opening of Ernest Bowser. 14" coal reported by Wilbur Bowser. Three adjacent openings also caved and abandoned. Black shale with marine fossils on dump. Heading N 47 E. (QS #71) 149 [illegible]
