144 (cont. from BK-1) M-4 went 60' before reaching the 48" coal Apparently M-1 + M-2 in same seam. McK thinks it is upper (topog.) coal stripped in Yoder Stone House stripping, says it has the 2' clay on top of it. No reason to disagree. M-3 and M-4 48" coal is the Upper Freeport. Reason to suspect McK. figure on thickness as Q. Singewald section of Boucher Mine shows 33" with 2" shale binder separating off lower 5" 145. Old mine opening showing dump of shale on old logging road. Adit about 60' or more N 74. E of dump at road. Coal mined up dip Mathias of UFB. Co, put pit down at entry, one to N of entry and a trench in off the road just south of the dump. Latter shows 1 1/2' flint clay in bottom near road. Appears to be in place. No flint hit in other holes. Coal exposed in pit at entry - see section. Mt. Savage clay, but - The coal mined is top bed Midi Kitt, the clay is Mid Kitt Clay + second coal either very thin here or absent. 146. Coal crop in cut above river. Following section measured Ft. In. Gray to black shale - at least 12 feet. Coal 13 Black shaley claystone 6 Silty claystone grading to siltstone 3 6 Obscured (prob. siltstone) 2.
