40. S Mine in Lower Bakerstown. coal. Opened by Fred Bittinger. (Working summer '48) 41. Coal smut in road gutter in front of house. 42 Weathered clays - probably red, with carb clay streak in mid. part. Underlain by slabby, thin-bedded ss. Attitude: 43 Same set up as 42. Considerable zone red clay, carb streak appears to be in upper half (lower part). Below clays silty claysstones grade to thinbedded sandstones down hill to N. At top of hill to S blocks of med. gr. ss begin to appear in float. Crest of hill may be capped with it. Attitude: 44. Flat just east of sharp rise on sandstone shows much flint clay float and patches white plastic clay locally.
