Sep. 11 - 1901 Wednesday Abandoned the digging of sections and started a new one in another face of the same quarry, which is diagonally opposite over the road from the house of Maxwells and on the top of the Junkers Hill. By come we had discovered the criminal bed. Cleared away some rock in the afternoon. Rained several times today. Sep 12th Thursday. Cleaned up the diggings of yesterday and washed the layers and criminals. Sep 13 Friday. Dug again with a man for a half day in the place of our first experi- ment. Saw some storm or rains but nothing more excepting a few Maxvellian stones.
