May 2-1916 This morning ore all went to the Askan dam about 20 miles out th Rondout ralley on the Ontario and north western. The dam is in the Upper Hamilton or the Herkimer Flaps. No marine forms are seen here but ore did see their stems of Lepidodendron and Psilophyta fragnents. At a lower level Rudeman saw long spriged Spirifer aureus. The Herkimer Flaps are greenish leavy folded impure fine grained sandstones that on breathering show the mud cross-bedded as their beds of pits ore there sheets. Such material of course would not furnish the flagstone of commerce. On this excursion gotten up by A.J.Coad, Severa Sprotan and Derby had many of their students. Johnston & Stanford was here. Also Rude- mann, Hartungfel, Millin & Zehi?, Besom, Franckfel, Ivry, Kurtz and J. Hyde of Ohio were present one of Sprotan students.
