down the hill from the hi, are exposures of white quartzite and a drawn out quartzite augitic granite but there is no feldspar. Besides it is a quartzite. The slate with the small poxite cube appears to me to be the same seen with Downton in the slate quarry north of the Men- Vt. line. Here the little spots must also be some mineral and not otherdo. Have taken along the specimen I found here at the Bernadothm place. The drive up to Castleton and put up at the Maples at 6.30 P.M. The day was one of the finest, sunny and cool.
