down the hill from the hi, are exposures of white quartzite and a drawn out quartzite augitic granite but there is no feldspar. Besides it is a quartzite. The slate with the small poxite cube appears to me to be the same seen with Downton in the slate quarry north of the Men- Vt. line. Here the little spots must also be some mineral and not otherdo. Have taken along the specimen I found here at the Bernadothm place. The drive up to Castleton and put up at the Maples at 6.30 P.M. The day was one of the finest, sunny and cool. We came about 130 miles.
