October 4, 1923 Thursday, Looked over two of the large clay pits de- scribed in the schedule, and then some others along the Raritan river and in South Amboy. The rest of the day are looked over Tropic out- oristed Rutgers and Princeton, at the Henry China factory in Trenton. In the evening looked over the little state Museum and Rummer's Office and laboratories. Near Princeton occurs the Palisade intrusive and early Princeton it has metamorphosed the whole series at least 100 feet down. One could see that secondary minerals had begun to form. Stopping in the elegant Stacey-Trenton Hotel, looked like rain for tomorrow. But instead it was bright and cold.
